St. Nicholas’ Episcopal Church is a diverse group of people united in our mission to reflect the love of Christ and respect the dignity of all people. We are a body of Christians who blend together to carry the message of love and welcome to all.
It could be said that we are a church that has been “born again.” St. Nicholas’ was formed in 1956 by parishioners of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Midland and given a “second life” in 2005. We are solidly committed to The Episcopal Church, to a broad and dynamic understanding of the Gospel and to making that understanding known and available to our community. Embracing a variety of lifestyles, political views and theological perspectives enriches our life together.
We enjoy coming together for worship, education and recreation. Some of our regular fellowship activities include occasional Nights-at-the-Ballpark and Fellowship Hour after worship each Sunday, as well as smaller gatherings such as movie nights. St. Nicholas' is a small church and most parishioners are active in church life. We welcome newcomers and try to involve them in the life and ministries of our church at their comfort level.
Individually, many parishioners are active in the larger community. Some of the organizations our parishioners support include Habitat for Humanity, Midland Community Theatre, Midland College, AA and Alanon, The Recording Library of West Texas, the Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale, Family Promise, Basin PBS, United Way, Meals on Wheels, 3:11 Ministries, CASA of West Texas, the Junior League and the Exchange Club, as well as other civic and community service organizations. In addition, many parishioners are involved in the Jubilee Center Food Pantry, which began as an Episcopal mission in Midland. A wide variety of careers and work experiences also enrich our life together.
